A dynamic network of university and college art galleries across Canada, the members of University and College Art Galleries Association of Canada work collectively and collaboratively to strengthen and promote the study and appreciation of the visual arts through their collections, exhibitions, and research, within the academic community and beyond.

Mission

The University and College Art Galleries Association of Canada supports and promotes the work of university and college art galleries across Canada. It is a collegial network that provides a forum for directors, curators, and other staff to share information about common concerns, bringing its members together through bi-annual meetings and online discussions.

Established in 1994, its goals are to:

  • Advocate on behalf of its members for a sustainable role for the art gallery within the university or college and for the value of its professional staff.
  • Inform government agencies, the visual arts community, and the public about university art galleries and their role.
  • Promote professional standards of ethics and practice.
  • Facilitate the exchange of information about exhibitions, collections, and programs.
  • Promote research and scholarship on the visual arts.
